When automakers in the United States reopen their plants they will be facing a deramatically weakened economy and sharply lower demand from consumers, James Picariello, chief automotive analyst at KeyBanc Capital Markets told Fastmarkets in an interview.

After this steep decline, the auot manufactuirn gsetor will not experience a strong and immediate V-shaped economic recovery, the analyst said.
"I'm baking in more of a U-shaped rebound, as I think it'll take some time for all of the gear of the economy to get reigned again with consumer confidnece leading a gradual charge forward," Picariello said.
